Description:
It is the purpose of the PROFIsafe - Test Specification to define roles and tasks for the parties involved in the test and certification process for PROFIsafe devices.
PROFIsafe is a supplementary technology for standard PROFIBUS / PROFINET and the derived applications PROFIBUS PA and Motion Control. This technology reduces the residual error probability of information transmission between safety Programmable Logic Controller and safety field devices to the level required by the relevant standards, typically IEC 61508, or better. Additionally, PROFIsafe provides functional safe solutions for configuration, parameter assignment, maintenance, and other related tasks.
It is highly recommended to clarify the allover test and certification procedure with a "Notified Body" very early in the development process. This document is proposing a "standard" procedure that is harmonized with IFA and TÜV exemplary.
The roles and tasks of the PROFIBUS / PROFINET Test Labs are defined in detail within this document.
PROFIsafe Test Specification V2.3 is a maintenance update of V2.2.
The main changes are:
- the Grandfathering rules and clauses are updated and
- the Manufacturer declarations are reduced to the up today needs
Draft 2.4 constitutes a maintenance update. The main changes with respect to the previous edition are:
- Refer to PROFIsafe Version V2.6MU2
- New optional feature BaseID
- Updated nomenclature to match PROFINET specifications
- Updated documents in the bibliography
- New Automated Real-Time Tester
- Corrections introduced by change requests from TÜV SÜD Rail GmbH
This version of PROFIsafe Test Specification refers to PROFIsafe V2.6 what includes PROFIsafe V2.6 MU2 and IEC 61784-3-3:2016.
