The PROFINET specification version 2.5 addresses new requirements regarding scalability, performance and integration in industrial communication.

PROFINET 2.5 introduces scalable security mechanisms and supports motion control applications based on standard off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware. It allows standard network components to be used in conjunction with virtualised environments and time-synchronised motion control applications.

The specification supports scalable networks with higher bandwidths, larger data volumes, increased port densities and more flexible topologies, covering a range from 10 Mbit to 10 Gbit.

Full backward compatibility enables the seamless integration of existing RT and IRT devices into PROFINET topologies.

PROFINET 2.5 is based on Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), using 100% IEEE standards, and incorporates modern security features.

A key element is SXP, which provides standardised, secure and routable access to devices independently of the PLC and supports the transport of data from the shop floor to higher-level IT systems.

The webinar will also cover GSDX, including signing, conformance classes and full integration into the established certification framework of the PROFIBUS Nutzerorganisation (PNO).
